Steps for obtaining an FAA Part 107 unmanned Commercial Pilot Certificate
January 18, 2024FAA certification is a requirement for operating a commercial drone. The test is a multiple choice 60 question test. To get started you will need an FAA tracking number (FTN) by registering with the IACRA website
To get started, visit this web site: https://iacra.faa.gov/IACRA/Default.aspx
Steps:
- Click the ‘Register’ link near the top right of IACRA home page.
- Check the ‘Applicant’ box, then go to bottom of the page and click “Agree to (TOS) and continue”.
- On the IACRA User Profile Information page, please enter all the information.
- Leave the first section blank since you do not have a certificate
- In the “Personal Information” box, use your full legal name, including any suffix. This name must match the name on your Knowledge Test. Please enter a valid email address. IACRA will use it for important notifications.
- Choose your security questions
- Create a User Name and strong password and write it down for future use on this website.
- Click Register.
- IACRA will display your FTN (FAA Tracking Number). Please write this number down; it will also be emailed to you. This number is your unique identifier, and for most application types you must provide it to your Instructor and/or Certifying Officer to complete an application.
Once you have your FTN, you can register online to take your knowledge test by going to the following link https://faa.psiexams.com/FAA/login
At this web site, you will need to create an account using your FAA tracking number from the previous IACRA web site. (click button in the middle of the welcome screen)
